Claudio Pinto Murray

About:
Claudio has almost
22 years of experience in the software development industry, ranging
from development, design, architecture to management. In 1985 he
entered the enterprise applications space as co-founder of Exactus
Software (www.exactus.com),
an ERP software and services company with over 500 customers in 12
countries in the Latin American region. Exactus is CMM level 3
certified, and has received three rounds of Venture Capital since 1996,
the last one in 2003 by Intel Capital and Darby Technology Ventures. In
2003 he became interested in the gaming software industry, and in
serious games, particularly their applications to education. After some
research and proof of concept projects, and having realized that there
are a lot of young and talented engineers and artists with interests in
this field in Costa Rica, he founded FairPlay Labs in 2004, and left
his position as CTO of Exactus Software in 2006 to dedicate to this new
company. He holds a BS and MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering
from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
Diego Rodriguez Calvo

Art Manager and Project Manager
About:
Diego is the Art Manager of Fair Play Labs. He has vast
experience covering eight years in the IT industry, including three
years as developer for call center applications, and three years in
project management with our team. In the past Diego was the Senior
Developer in charge of the Nintendo Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS
Runtime development.

David Madrigal González
Team Role:
Concept Artist, Character and Environment Designer,
Pixel Artist
About:
David
joined our team in January 2007 for the Ecovolution project as a
concept artist working on the design of characters and environments,
and for the As Majesty Game Online and outsourcing projects as graphic
designer. He graduated from the Universidad de Costa Rica as a Graphic
Designer in 2005, which enables him to prepare and design printed and
digital art. His experience mainly focuses on fields like illustration,
book oriented design, and in a smaller scale, web design. His taste for
fantasy and science fiction, his fondness for videogames, and his
experience on illustration provide him a clear view over this line of
work.

Carlos Morales Umaña

About:
Carlos R. is an artist who joined our team in June 2008.
He is an
advanced student in Digital Animation at the Universidad Veritas in
Costa Rica. At this moment he is working on a short film called “El
tendedero” which was exhibited in the second sample of Universidad
Veritas in December of 2008.

Roberto Dobles Morales
Team Role:
Concept artist, graphic designer, animator.
About:
Roberto joined our team in 2008 as general purpose
supporter in the art department. Roberto is a bachelor degree in
plastic arts with emphasis in graphic design for the Universidad de
Costa Rica. He is interested in diverse fields, including, photography,
illustration, cinema, 3D modeling, story writing and game design.
Roberto is also a compromised Game Master for various game
campaigns.

Felipe Cartín Arteaga

Concept Artist, Animator
About:
Felipe was first contacted in 2005 for some character designs for Ecovolution,
and has been a valuable part of the team ever since. He is finishing his digital
animation career in Universidad Veritas in Costa Rica, and has been on several
gaming projects, including a modification of Quake 3, a TV spot 3D model for
Spike TV's machinima awards, and several other Role Playing Games throughout the
net. His capabilities extend over a wide variety of areas, including concept
design, character design, environment design, 3d modeling, 3d animation, 2d
animation, pixel art, animation, motion graphics and rigging. One of the 10
worldwide finalists in the Animazoo and Autodesk 3D character competition of
2006.

Melina Obando Chacón

Melina joined our team in 2009 as animator in the art department. She is a student in Digital Animation at the Universidad Veritas in Costa Rica.

William Rodríguez Calvo

About:
William is the Software Development Manager of Fair Play Labs. He has a
vast experience in the software development industry, with more than
ten years of work, six of them spent working in the development of
mobile applications and games. He has worked in the past as a
programmer, lead programmer, project manager and IT manager. He’s also
an avid computer graphics enthusiast, with a profound love for OpenGL
and the Mac platform.

Andrés Cartín Arteaga

Andrés
joined the team in August, 2005. He has experience working with OpenGL
as well as DirectX 9.0c. As a high school student, he developed some
games using the RPG Maker platform. During college, his experience
ranged from a 3D engine to an online .Net real time strategy game
similar to Warcraft. Andrés is now the team leader and senior developer in charge
of the development of tools and titles for iPhone and web

Diego
joined the team in May 2007. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in

and game development. In his free time, Diego is an avid videogame

very knowledgeable in many of its current events. Asides from

Oscar joined the team in July 2008. He has a
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the Instituto

development. Oscar was in charge of the design and development of
the Spy ARG Tools. Asides from computer science Oscar has interests in

Christian Sánchez Portilla

Christian joined the team in November 2008. He has a
Bachelor of Science degree from Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica and
he is currently working towards a Master of Science degree in Cognitive
Sciences at the Universidad de Costa Rica. His greatest interest is to
work in research and development of complex problems. During his spare
time he loves to play video games, play guitar and spend time with his
beloved family.

Cesar Tovar Molina

Music Composer and Sequencer and Sound FX
About:
Cesar
joined the team in early 2006, as music composer and sound effects
developer. He plays guitar in two bands, both thrash metal, although he
likes to listen to more progressive, technical, Swedish stuff.
Composing has been his hobby and passion since 2000, and he works on
his music with real constancy and enthusiasm. He is not an avid video
game player, though quite a casual one. He has experience with
videogame development and has used RPG Maker to develop several proof
of concept games for fun, which got him into composing music for games.
His current favorite videogame music composer is Grant Kirkhope (Dk64,
Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, among other titles)
Pilar Portela

About:
Pilar has over 15 years of experience in business
development,
general management and finance in a variety of industries ranging from
retail and wholesale, to non-profit organizations to software
development companies. Her experience is as wide ranging in locations
including Central America, USA and Canada. She holds a BA in
Business Administration and a Masters in Project Management
and is working towards a Post Graduate degree in Business Administration with an
emphasis in International Trade. She joined the team in October 2008.
Carlos Gómez Monge

Financial and Administrative Consultant
About:
Carlos joined the team in May 2009. He holds a Post Graduate degree in
International Business from the Latin American University
of Science and Technology –ULACIT. He has nine years experience in general
administration in various industries, including tourism and IT. As Administrative
Assistant at FairPlayLabs, Carlos takes care of day to day accounting and
administrative operations.
